About BPLA

Located off of Bettis Academy Road in Trenton, SC, on the historic grounds of Bettis Academy, our school serves K-8 students from multiple counties throughout the state of South Carolina. We are a tuition-free public charter school with small class sizes, highly qualified teachers, and STEM Education. Through a hands-on, innovative learning process that engages students by making real-world connections through exploration and high-level questioning.

Hands-on learning allows students to think creatively and use innovation to find unique solutions to common problems – ultimately making our world a better place. At Bettis Preparatory Leadership Academy, we take STEM education to another level, so much so that we REINVENT the educational world of STEM. Inside the classrooms our teachers embed STEM education into everyday lessons, making learning relevant and real....but the magic really happens on Fridays! If you take a stroll down our halls, you will see hands-on learning, innovative dives into inquiry and problem solving, teachers asking probing questions, and students using their hands to solve the problems of the moment.
